Dunkirk’s history is filled with men and women who served as leaders, businessmen, clergymen, musicians, and workers of all trades. As an industrialized city, men and women worked building locomotives, making steel, building radiators, bricks, and car chassis. Some cut ice from the lake while others fished for sturgeon and walleye. Some participated in marching bands and fraternal organizations. Some served in leadership roles in the community and in the government. Meet some of the people who established themselves in the city and contributed in some important way to its success.
