The museum volunteers will assist those who are interested in making inquiries into their genealogical background for a fee as follows.
MEMBERS:
Members may use genealogical research material in person in the museum at no additional cost.
Members may submit a genealogical research request by mail and that search will be completed for a fee of $10.00 after the form is completed and submitted to the museum. No information will be taken over the phone.
Copies for members will be $.10 per sheet
NON-MEMBERS:
Non-members may use research material in person in the museum at a cost of $15.00
Non-members may submit a research request by mail and that search will be completed for a fee of $20.00, and the request must be accompanied by a SASE. Copies are $.20 each.
Research will begin when the completed request form has been filled in and mailed or emailed to the museum staff, with the fee received as well.
Persons requesting research will be directed to send a letter or fill out the website form with the needed information. These requests should be accompanied by the appropriate fee. No information will be taken over the phone.

The Kirwin Directories and Polk Directories: These volumes list the names, addresses, spouses, and occupations of individuals alphabetically and by street address starting in 1873.

GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH MATERIAL AVAILABLE AT THE MUSEUM:
The museum holds the volumes of Genealogical Information Reported in the Evening Observer, Dunkirk, N.Y (several volumes), which provides information on births, deaths and marriages taken from the Dunkirk Observer. The books cover the dates from 1882 to 2010. The museum has the physical volumes that cover 1882 though 2000.
